The Detroit Asian Youth Project to host May gathering of Detroit Future Youth

On April 28th, Michigan Round Table and Detroit Future Youth (DFY) hosted over one hundred students from five area schools for a day of workshops, live performances and youth leadership skill building. Michigan Roundtable, a youth centered civil rights organization whose mission is to overcome discrimination and racism by crossing racial, religious, ethnic and cultural boundaries, is one of twelve organizations that participate in DFY.

The April Detroit Future Youth gathering will be held in conjunction with the upcoming Youth Justice and Leadership Exhibition on April 28 at 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside the WSU General Lectures and Manoogian Buildings.

Youth media makers imagined a new world while learning how to create videos on March 31 as a part of the monthly Detroit Future Youth (DFY) network’s gathering. Featuring inspiration from the poetry and popular education work of the performance duo, Alixa and Naima of Climbing Poetree, the gathering was hosted by Real Media of the Urban Neighborhood Initiative in Southwest Detroit's Springwell Village.

On February 25th, youth organization, Detroit Impact partnered with Detroit Future Youth (DFY) to host the third youth network gathering of the year. Detroit Future Youth aims to strengthen and deepen youth social justice organizing in Detroit by partnering with twelve youth programs in that focus on social justice based education and multimedia creation. They host one gathering a month so that each organization in the network can showcase the work that they do.
